Working together to improve fire safety
Fire door inspections are essential for maintaining the fire integrity of your building and is a requirement of The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO)
In the event of a fire, fire doors within buildings play a significant role in restricting the spread of smoke and flames and therefore providing the building occupants with sufficient time to escape. Naturally, during normal occupation, the components of a fire door will suffer from wear and tear and may become damaged, particularly in environments such as Care Homes, Schools, Hotels etc. It is therefore necessary to inspect each doorset (door and frame) and assess the effectiveness in a fire situation and carry out any remedial work as necessary to ensure compliance with RRO.
Who can carry out a Fire Door Inspection
Only a competent person should carry out a Fire Door Assessment. A thorough examination is required of the various components that make up the fire door and frame.
Marpal Fire Safety Ltd can undertake a Fire Door Assessment to ensure that building owners, or the responsible person, comply with the RRO, by inspecting all the fire resisting doors within the building to ensure that they’re correctly installed, maintained and are fit for purpose.
