Trainee Asbestos Surveyor/Health & Safety Consultant’s Role

The ideal candidate will support both the Asbestos Management and the CDM Consultancy Departments. This is varied role and provides an ideal opportunity to develop a career within the field of construction health and safety.

The role will require the successful candidate to travel across the UK and assist our Lead Asbestos Surveyor with surveying various buildings/properties to locate asbestos containing materials. The Assistant/Trainee must keep an accurate written record of the Survey in real time as it progresses. In addition, the Asbestos Surveying Assistant will also be involved in the production of formal Asbestos Survey Reports to be issued to clients and used as part of their Asbestos Management duties under the ‘Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations.

This position will also require the successful candidate to work within and support the CDM Department. The department offers CDM Consultancy Services, which briefly comprises of assisting Clients, Principal Designers, Principal Contractors and Contractors with complying with their statutory duties. Some of the services provided include preparing Pre-Construction Information Packs, developing CDM Risk Registers, Cleaning Maintenance and Access Strategies, Plant Replacement Strategies, Construction Phase Plans, Health & Safety Files, Building Manuals as well as undertaking Site Safety Inspections.

Full training will be given on the job by our highly experienced staff; however the Successful Candidate must: i) be punctual and reliable ii) be able to take direction and work as part of a team iii) be able to spend evenings away from home as and when required iv) be open to learning on the job, and pick things up quickly v) be comfortable with all work environments, including
offices, construction sites and care home environments (this is vital as the majority of our surveys are in care homes) vi) be computer literate, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook vii) Preferably have their own transport (although this is not essential) viii) ideally either completed or working towards a Construction or Health & Safety related degree or similar.
