We are extremely proud to announce that Marpal will have been trading for 20 years this August; quite a milestone and achievement as many businesses fail in their early years. Our expansion and growth has largely been organic; we have resisted the urge to grow too quickly, which has meant that we have been able to lay solid foundations for the business. Like any new business, establishing a good reputation and creating a Client base is never easy, and in doing so, you have to be prepared to go that extra mile which I believe has been a contributing factor to our success.
When Marpal was formed in 1998 by Managing Director, Paul Littlewood, it was to principally provide Site Management support on construction projects, Clients included Taylor Woodrow and Bovis Lend Lease. In 2001, utilising the existing skills available, the business ventured down the Construction Health and Safety route, Marpal acted as Planning Supervisor; a Health and Safety role introduced by the CDM Regulations. Our first commission received in this role was at Lubrizol, an additives and lubricants research and testing laboratory located at Hazelwood on the outskirts of Derby and some 17 years on, we continue to provide them with Construction Health and Safety Support, the latest scheme being the Test Offices Refurbishment Project.
Marpal operates across the UK, working for some large Clients including significant projects at Rolls-Royce’s nuclear licensed site in Derby (working here since 2007), DHL at East Midlands Airport, many MoD establishments (including Army, Navy and RAF sites), JCB, Ford, East Midland Trains, Babcock International, Metronet Alliance etc.
We have a significant foothold in the Care Home Sector working on construction projects (including new build, extensions and refurbishments), managing Asbestos and carrying out fire risk assessments for some of the largest private Care Home operators in the UK. Our Clients include BUPA UK, Four Seasons Health Care, Barchester, Care UK, Accomplish, Keys Group, The Huntercombe Group, Brighterkind, Sanctuary.
